Alyssa Esparaz is in the International Development Studies program at the University of Toronto.She founded Freedom Creations, a social enterprise that sells handmade knitted accessories and donates 100% of the profits to fight injustice and violence against people living in poverty. In 2013 she received the YMCA Peace Medallion from the YMCA of Greater Toronto, for her contributions to peace building through her blog and other projects. She recently agreed to write a regular column about Compassion for Love is Moving, a youth magazine published by the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada and distributed along with Faith Today.
She is the host of Compassion Canada’s youth curriculum, True Story: What God wants us to do about poverty, and speaks regularly on behalf of the organization.
